Mustard Seed Soft Launch this weekend & Member Savings

FoundingMemberCard

During your first visit to the co-op, you will be able to pick up your member card and passport which illustrates many of the details and vision of The Mustard Seed Co-op.

Ambassadors and staff will be on hand to give you your card and answer any questions. This is only the beginning and we are so excited to share this budding store with all of our members and the broader community. Our opening hours for this weekend’s soft launch are 11am – 7pm Friday  & Saturday, 11am – 5pm Sunday and we will be closed Monday to regroup. Our regular hours will then commence on Tuesday, January 28th; we will be open 8am – 8pm Monday – Saturday, 11am – 5pm Sunday.

Members not only support the local food system and our community, but you will also have a chance to earn savings when you shop at the co-op. Being a member has it’s perks; here are some great member benefits you’ll experience at the Co-op.

Mustard Seed Member Credit

Members will receive a 2% in-store credit on all purchases – so for every dollar you spend at the Co-op you earn a 2 cent credit.

A 2% credit means that savings will add up fast! Your balance is easy to track, it’s printed on each receipt. Let your store credit accumulate to save up for a special occasion or redeem it any time you shop. Just let our Retail Sales Clerks know when you check out.

Members will also benefit from weekly Member Specials in addition to sale items for all customers.

Bulk orders

Another great member benefit is our simple bulk and case lot ordering system. Members save 15% by ordering larger quantities than we typically stock in the store; either a case lot of a particular item, a bushel of produce, or large bags of something from our bulk section.

We’ll have a special pick-up zone in the store, so you can easily find your order and take it to the checkout to pay.

Orders can be placed either online or in-store with one of our Retail Sales Clerks.

Paying at the Co-op

Affordability is one of our key member priorities. One of the ways to achieve this is by reducing our banking fees and transaction service charges. As such, we have decided to only accept cash, cheques, or debit card payments at The Mustard Seed. Credit card companies charge businesses over 2% on each purchase. By not accepting credit cards, our members save money and help keep our prices affordable.

Opening Week Excitement

The Mustard Seed has been almost two years in planning, and we are all eager to start shopping there. If you do come on the first weekend, please be conscientious about parking in the neighbourhood if our lot is full. It promises to be a busy weekend, with so many members shopping at the co-op for the first time. Thanks for your understanding as we work out all the kinks in launching Hamilton’s only community-owned grocery store. We’ll see you soon at The Mustard Seed!
